Nikki Hallacy
Nikki Hallacy, a seventh-grader at Dodgen Middle School, began playing golf at the age of seven. She started lessons with White Columns Director of Instruction, Cody Barden, that very same year. When asked how she responds to Cody's teaching style, Nikki explained that various instructional tools keep golf lessons productive, positive, and enjoyable. "Cody doesn't get mad when you do poorly; he encourages you," Nikki says. "Sometimes, he uses a video camera to visually show you how to improve your swing, which is helpful."

While Nikki aims to keep golf a fun, recreational sport in her life, she is invested in her bi-monthly lessons and weekly practice sessions. "I'm working on my chipping accuracy," Nikki says. "Also on keeping my wrists cocked so my swing comes down at the right angle... and, following through my putts."
Nikki's responsiveness to positive coaching is also her own method in giving advice to new golfers. "Relax and try your best," she advises. "Golf is fun... it gets you outside, in the sunshine. You can spend time with family," she adds, a nod to the golfing afternoons with her father.
Over the past few years, Nikki has participated in the Club Championship and looks forward to playing it again next year. In addition to her golf activities, Nikki is actively involved in lacrosse, the math team, and the BETA Club at her school.
